Descent of the Sella by canoe

Description

The descent of the Sella river by canoe is one of the most popular activities in Spain. You will discover the beautiful Asturian landscapes between Cangas de Onis and Arriondas.

Itinerary

Tour and facilities

After receiving you in our Activity Center in Las Rozas (Cangas de Onis), we will offer you the basic explanations and provide you with all the necessary equipment to make the descent of the river Sella. You have at your disposal our facilities with changing rooms, showers and toilets.

The descent is free and without a defined time. In addition, children under 12 years old can enjoy a free mini golf in our sports and leisure complex.

At the end of the activity, we will take you back to the meeting point.

Routes

Depending on your physical condition and predisposition, you can choose one of the following routes, all of them departing from Las Rozas, in Cangas de Onís:

  • Route of 4 kilometers: it lasts between 1 and 2 hours, and will take you to Arriondas.
  • Route of 12 kilometers: during 3 hours and a half approximately, you will paddle along the waters of the Sella passing through Arriondas to Toraño.
  • Route of 19 kilometers: with an average duration of 5 hours, the route runs through Arriondas and Toraño until reaching Llovio, very close to the mouth of the Sella river in the Ribadesella estuary.

Material

For this activity we recommend you bring comfortable clothes, booties, a cap or hat, and sunscreen if you do the descent in the summer months.

The rest of the equipment is provided by us: canoes (1, 2 or 3 seats), paddles, life jackets and jerry cans for storage. Depending on the weather, we will also provide wetsuits.

To be taken into account

Participants in the descent must be able to swim.
