Excursion to Avilés, Cudillero and Luarca
Description
Itinerary
After picking you up at the indicated time at the meeting point of your choice, we will head towards one of the most beautiful areas of the western coast of Asturias.
The first stop will take place in the town of Luarca. In this picturesque seaside village, birthplace of Nobel Prize winner Severo Ochoa, we will stroll through the old town. Then, we will move east to visit the hermitage of La Regalina. This small sanctuary on the shores of the Bay of Biscay, located between Luarca and Cudillero, is one of the most beautiful churches on the Asturian coast.
We will continue the excursion in Cudillero, popularly known as the pixueta village. We will discover the origins of this denomination while walking through the center of the town, where its narrow streets of seafaring atmosphere stand out. There you will have a free hour to have lunch and enjoy the delicious local cuisine.
Afterwards, we will head towards Avilés, the so-called town of the Adelantado. We will learn about the history of this former ruler of the Indies and visit the old town, where the church of Sabugo and the Plaza de la Merced stand out. On the other side of the Avilés estuary we will also see the Niemeyer Center, a modern cultural center designed by the prestigious Brazilian architect after whom it is named.
After visiting Avilés we will return to the different meeting points.
