Nalón Valley: History on the wheels of your bike

Description

The Nalon Valley is one of those places where history and nature intertwine to create a unique environment. Formerly known as the mining heart of Asturias, today it is reinvented as an essential destination for cycling and adventure lovers. The traces of the industrial past -old mining roads, tunnels and coal washhouses- have been transformed into the **Coal Trails**, a network of spectacular routes that combine heritage, landscape and sport. Along the route, visitors can **re-live the history of coal** while pedaling along paths that wind through forests, mountains and vestiges of mining. Interpretive signs, viewpoints and rest areas invite you to stop and learn how the identity of an entire region was forged. Each section of the Coal Trails is designed for **different levels and styles**: from gentle cultural rides perfect for families and cycle tourists, to **technical and flowy descents** that challenge the most experienced riders. The combination of natural sections, reclaimed areas and panoramic views of the valley make this route a complete experience, uniting the legacy of the past with the energy of modern cycling. In the Nalón Valley, each pedal stroke is a tribute to its history and a celebration of the present: a place where the mining spirit is still alive, now transformed into a passion for the mountains and sport.
