  • San Lorenzo Beach🌊

The great urban beach of Gijón, with its famous promenade and the Escalerona. Perfect for walking, jogging, sunbathing or simply enjoying the Bay of Biscay at any time of the year.

  • Cerro de Santa Catalina and Elogio del Horizonte 🗿.

At the top of the old fishermen’s quarter is the sculpture of Eduardo Chillida, one of the icons of the city, with one of the best panoramic views of Gijón What to see in Gijón.

  • Cimavilla (Old Town)🏘️

The most emblematic neighborhood of the city. Old sailor neighborhood, full of charming streets, cider houses, historic buildings and Roman remains. Here is the birthplace of Jovellanos and the Roman Baths of Campo Valdés.

  • Providencia Viewpoint🌅

A viewpoint shaped like a spearhead from which you can see the whole city, part of the Cantabrian coast and, on clear days, the island of Tortuga. Highly recommended at sunset.

  • Cuesta del Cholo🍎

A street with a lot of character that goes down to the marina. A traditional place to have a cider with a view of the boats when the weather is good.

Nature and green spaces

  • Atlantic Botanical Garden🌿

A unique plant museum in northwestern Spain, with more than 25 hectares dedicated to the flora of the North Atlantic. Ideal for a leisurely stroll and combine nature and culture.

  • Isabel la Católica🌳 Park

Large urban park, former marshland converted into a historic garden, with more than 1,200 specimens of plants and areas perfect for strolling or resting.

  • Aquarium of Gijón🐠

More than 60 aquariums, 12 ecosystems and thousands of marine and freshwater animals. Highly recommended if you are traveling with children or are interested in the marine world.

  • El Molinón🏟️ Stadium

The oldest soccer stadium in Spain, home of Real Sporting de Gijón. You can visit the inside and see the changing rooms, press room and grass.

What to do in 2-3 days (tour idea)

  • Day 1:
    Cimavilla, Cerro de Santa Catalina, Roman Baths, walk along the marina and San Lorenzo Beach. Cider bars in the evening.
  • Day 2:
    Aquarium, Railway Museum, Atlantic Botanical Garden and Laboral University. Walk through Isabel la Católica Park and visit to El Molinón.
  • Day 3:
    Coastal hiking trails, downtown shopping, traditional confectioneries and museums according to personal interests.

Gastronomy and cider

Gijón is a land of cider and seafood: fish, seafood, squid, sea urchin pie, fabes, Asturian cheeses and traditional sweets. The cider houses in the center and in Cimavilla are an obligatory stop.
